Job Title: Hospice Clinical Director

Reports to: Administrator

Position Summary

The Hospice Clinical Director reports directly to the Hospice Administrator and is responsible for the management of the Hospice agency's clinical programs in accordance with the policies determined by the Board of Directors.


Primary Functions and Responsibilities:

•Direct and lead all clinical service programs;
•Perform initial orientation of all new skilled nursing staff;
•Follow-up on complaints directly received by patients, per policy;
•Act as a clinical liaison to the administrative staff;
•Participate in the development of the strategic plan;
•Recommend to the Administrator the appropriate staffing mix needed to adequately provide the community services;
•Monitor the coordination of multidisciplinary services;
•Assure that appropriate policies and procedures are developed, implemented, and monitored;
•Keep clinical service personnel informed of up to date clinical information and practices, local issues, and trends;
•Supervise programs and personnel as indicated on the organizational chart;
•Oversee the QPI/Infection Control program;
•Serve as a liaison between staff, physician, patient and community through open and effective communications;
•Demonstrate good communication between office personnel;
•Represent the hospice agency at local, state, and national level functions as deemed necessary;
•Be willing to represent the hospice agency at community functions and/or participate in public speaking engagements to various organizations, physicians, and other interested parties;
•Keep all records up to date, organized, and ready for inspection at any time;
•Know and abide by all policies and function accordingly;
•Be committed to practice safety precautions;
•Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the dress code;
•Hold all records and information in strict confidence; Will not disclose any fiscal matters of records;
•Represent and support the Hospice agency within the community in a positive manner;
•Perform other duties as requested.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
Education and Experience Requirements:
•Baccalaureate degree (preferably with a master's degree), preferably with a minimum of three years administrative experience.
•Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia;
•Computer and computer spread sheet proficiency;
•Effective written and verbal communication skills;
•A current driver's license with a dependable insured automobile;
•Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude which fosters a cooperative and positive atmosphere.
